Approach/Specialties
Shana Smolen is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at Touro University with a health emphasis. She provides a warm, collaborative, and structured therapeutic environment grounded in evidence-based care. Shana works with clients to build insight, develop practical coping strategies, and create meaningful change aligned with their values. Her approach is integrative and flexible, drawing from cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, and acceptance-based therapies, while maintaining a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive lens.
Shana has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults across community mental health and behavioral health settings. She treats a range of concerns including anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, trauma-related symptoms, and emotion regulation difficulties. She has particular experience supporting individuals with developmental differences, as well as those navigating life transitions, chronic health concerns, and identity-related challenges. Shana incorporates skills-based interventions, psychoeducation, and mindfulness practices into her work.
Experience & Training
Shana is currently completing her doctoral training at Touro University and serves as a psychology extern at Family Services of Westchester, where she provides individual therapy, co-leads a DBT skills group, and conducts psychological assessments. She has additional clinical experience in applied behavior analysis, care management for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and intensive child-focused treatment programs.
